GWP South East Asia - 19^th Steering Committee Meeting

The GWP-SEA 19^th Steering Committee Meeting was held
from 24-26^th February 2010 at Rex Hotel, HoChiMinh City – Vietnam.

This first GWP SEA Steering Committee Meeting in 2010 take place on 24^th and 25^th February and continued by a field visit in the afternoon, and a Technical Discussion on The Role of GWP – SEA
in WRM Policy, Legal and Institutional Reform on the following day, 26^th February 2010.

The Steering Committee meeting was well attended by all members from South East Asia Region (Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippine, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam). The new GWP SEA Chair, Dr. Le Van Minh, presided the Steering Committee meeting for the first time.

The main topics of the agenda include 2009 work plan implementation review, 2010 activity plan preparation, review of collaboration with other international and regional organizations, fundraising and discussion about long term home for GWP SEA Secretariat. The afternoon of the day was spent for a field visit to Dau Tieng, the biggest irrigation project in Vietnam (80 km from Ho Chi Minh City) with the biggest dam under Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

An FAO Asia Pasific representative, Mr. Thierry Facon , attended the Technical Discussion on 26^th February 2010 where presentation were delivered by all steering committee members and followed by open discussion.
